Mr. Blackketter is an accomplished Permian Basin petroleum engineer with strong experience in reservoir engineering evaluation work on both conventional and unconventional Permian Basin oil and gas reservoirs. He began his oil and gas career with Berry Petroleum Company (later acquired by Linn Energy) where he developed high-graded production type curves and capital forecasting tools.
He then joined SM Energy as a reservoir engineer operating assets in the Midland and Delaware Basins. Mr. Blackketter then transitioned to the Business Development team over the Delaware Basin as the reservoir engineer. In that role, he evaluated numerous prospects in the basin and developed tools and processes and applied data analytics to streamline the delineation of prospective acreage, in addition to divesting SM’s Southeast New Mexico acreage.
Prior to working in the oil and gas industry, Mr. Blackketter was a signal construction engineer for BNSF Railway for five years. He worked many large-scale railroad projects across the Central and Western United States, managing construction, budgets, and schedules while maintaining a perfect injury-free record.
Mr. Blackketter is a member of SPE, West Texas Geological Society, NMOGA, and ADAM-Permian and has served on multiple local City of Midland and private boards. He graduated from the University of Texas with a BS in Electrical Engineering and holds an ME in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.
